True Story of Abner Jay LP
Abner Jay
$16
The last living exponent of the 'bones' - a musical tradition that involved playing percussive rhythms using various cow and chicken bones that had been dried out and blanched in the sun. Jay claimed to have a repertoire of over 600 songs, which he sung in a bone-shaking basso profundo voice, the legacy of a battle with throat cancer that almost felled him in his twenties. 'What did Adam and Eve do in the Garden?' runs one. 'Eve wore a fig leaf... and Adam wore a damn hole in it.' From Mississippi Records.

Bill
by Bill Berkson and Colter Jacobson
Berkson writes; “The words and title for BILL popped out of a juvenile detective novel Tom Veitch gave me around 1980. Soon, having typed a series of short sentences, paragraphs and stray phrases towards the bottom edge of unusually thin 8 1/2” by 11” sheets... I set aside the twenty-or-so pages and forgot about them.” The story was forgotten about until 2006 when Berkson found appropriate accompanying artwork in Jacobson's stunningly rendered pencil drawings.

Fireworks
by Mike Mills
"Some things that may or may not relate to these drawings: A professional suggested I take anti-depressants. I declined. About the same time I started drawing fireworks. I didn’t know what they meant or why I was drawing them. I was confused and embarrassed by this lack of meaning, but they kept coming. I could draw them no matter how I felt. I read that fireworks were first used in China in the 12th century to scare away negative spirits. I envied a world that not only recognized spirits, but scared the negative ones away with small man made explosions."
